I LOVE MY ACTIFRY SO MUCH! After my slow cooker, I would have to say that this is my favourite small kitchen appliance. It is so easy to use and is a significantly healthier alternative to deep frying as only uses 1 tablespoon of oil max. I also love how easy it is to clean. The portion that the food is cooked in is a removable, ceramic-coated, non-stick pan that washes very easily and the lid comes apart from the machine with the push of a button for easy washing as well. The only thing that takes a little elbow grease is the automatic stirring paddle, which has a couple small crevasses that are tricky to get into.
My favourite thing to cook in the Actifry is chicken wings. I adore chicken wings. I could eat them every day. I have a problem. They are by no means healthy but at least with the Actifry, they aren’t being deep fried in oil and they taste just as good.
All you have to do to make these delicious wings is to pop the raw, thaw wings inside, turn the Actifry “On” and set the timer for 25 minutes (you do not need to put any oil in the Actifry). Boom! Easy as that. When the timer goes off, throw in 1/4 cup of your favourite wing sauce and set the timer for another 6 minutes. The automatic stirring paddle will do all the work and coat the wings perfectly. The wings will come out juicy, evenly sauced and even a little crispy on the outside. I can’t even go to my local pub and get wings that I like as much as these.
For sauce, I love the VH Honey Garlic and I will dip in hot sauce for a nice sweet and spicy flavour. You can add the honey garlic and hot sauce to the Actifry at the same time and then you don’t have to worry about dipping, I just do it this way because my husband hates spicy food (lame) so I don’t need to do separate batches.
All in all, this is a wonderful product. It is a tad expensive at about $199.99 depending on where you get it, but it is completely 100% worth it. I am very frugal, so that means a lot coming from me. I would definitely recommend it and will be posting many more recipes using it as I experiment a little more with what it can do.
