Why did you start blogging and what’s the story behind your blog name? I wanted to be able to creatively express myself and share some of my thoughts with other like-minded people. I also needed a new hobby and blogging was the obvious choice. My husband and I are both redheads (that’s where the fox part comes in) and we’ve just bought our first home (our den). I also think of myself as pretty creative. I’m kind of a big deal. People know me (name that movie reference!). Put it all together and you’ve got The Creative Fox Den. Also, foxes are pretty awesome.
What is your biggest fear? Superficially = spiders. In a deeper context = being irrelevant. Being forgotten. Not doing anything of value.
Who do you think reads most of your posts? My hubby.
What is your favourite meal and what would be your last meal? I love all the food. I have different favourites according to mood, time of year, geographical location, temperature, the list goes on and on. Some foods that top the list are steak, pizza, wings, french onion soup, cheesecake (especially the white chocolate cheesecake from Milestones), summer salad, pepperoncinis, enchiladas… if I don’t stop now, I never will.
Dog or cat? Dog. Hands down.
Are you an introvert or an extrovert? Introverted extrovert. It’s a thing. Look it up.
What is the best time of day for your to blog? Early in the morning before I go to work and evening into night when I get home (Honesty moment: I’m bad with slang but I wanted to write, Everyday I’m hustlin’, but I didn’t know if I would be using it in the right context so I just looked it up on Urban Dictionary and apparently it’s getting money by illegal means so I decided to exclude it).
Where is the strangest place you’ve been in the last year? Umm… in my own mind? I went to a restaurant that was pitch black so you couldn’t see anything while you were eating, I guess that’s pretty strange.
Would you rather travel by plane, train or automobile? All of them if I can hang out with John Candy (RIP) and Steve Martin.
What are you doing after this post? Probably going to sleep. How lame is that? Don’t judge me! Or, I could just be saying that I’m going to sleep but I’m really going to be saving the world from imminent danger. You pick.
What’s your favourite movie?
What’s the last thing you read?
What’s your favourite post that you’ve written?
What’s your favourite food to make? To eat? (In my world, these are two completely different things)
If you could host a dinner party for five people (fictional or nonfictional, dead or alive) who would they be?
What would you serve at this dinner party?
If you were stuck in a movie (think Last Action Hero) which movie would it be?
What’s your favourite room in your home?
What are you most proud of?
Name something that always makes you unabashedly happy.
I’m going to be honest and admit that this isn’t my recipe at all. It’s just so good though, that I can’t keep it from you. The recipe is actually my father in law’s and only Brandon (my husband) can make it. It’s his specialty and it is delicious. To be completely honest, he didn’t even want me to share it with you (can you believe it?), but I said, “The people have the right to know!” So here we are.
Well, this series took long enough. I’ve actually had the painting done for quiet a while now but I had to put the video together and then there were other posts that I got caught up in, so that’s that. But this is the last instalment (at least for painting). I have two separate posts coming for the upholstery (which is currently done! Woohoo!) and I couldn’t be prouder of how it turned out!
So, I got all caught up with The Sisterhood of the World Blogger Award and completely forgot that it was Friday! Add to that, the fact that I was on vacation at the beginning of the week and I’m working all weekend and it makes sense how Friday passed me by. Not excusable, I know. I feel like I let you guys down and it won’t happen again. To make up for it, I’m recommending a movie that is crazy awesome, blow-your-mind incredible and all around damn-near-perfect. I think you’ll feel the same way if you give it a try.
So, I got my first award nomination last week! I’m so incredibly thankful to Candice at Ccosmetic Chaos for the nomination and really excited to pass it on to some other ladies that are doing such a great job putting up posts and keeping me entertained. Read more ›
I originally tried to load this a couple days ago while in the Dominican but, alas, the wifi was not what I wanted it to be so now you get to watch/read it today. Yahoo! I will be doing a post in a couple days about my trip (which was amazing!) so keep posted. Back to today’s post then…
Beer and chicken, what’s not to love? I’ve already done a full chicken recipe for the slow cooker but not everyone has a slow cooker, or has the time to wait at least 4 hours for their chicken to be done. Thank goodness for the oven.
Hello, my darlings and welcome to another Wednesday Night Kitchen Raid. This time I was really scraping the bottom of the barrel. Do you ever have those weeks where you think you have a full fridge and then you turn around and there’s NOTHING in there? How does that even happen? I guess it doesn’t help when your husband is a voracious eating machine. I try and make enough dinner to serve four so there will be enough for lunch the next day and he eats it all. No matter how much I make, he will eat it. I think I’ll start hiding lunch portions in the back of the fridge where he won’t find it.
Ok, guys, here it is! I’m so pumped for this renovation experiment. I’m going to completely renovate my office for free. That being said, I have to admit that I did replace the flooring and I painted the walls when we moved in, so that’s already done and it certainly wasn’t for free but EVERYTHING else will be. I’m not sure exactly how I’m going to do this but I’m determined.
As an introduction to this new project, I wanted to share some of my inspirations and the offices that my little office aspires to be.
I love this wall unit by Lolly Jane with the chevron pattern backdrop! It’s beautiful and has so much storage. I also love the idea of mason jars for storage. I happen to have a lot of mason jars in my basement, that counts as free!
Alien bear. Flux capacitor. Fly blood DNA. ’90s references… so many ’90s references. What’s not to love? This is the best movie I’ve seen in a long time. I loved it so so so much. Detention is a mashup of horror, comedy, sic-fi, thriller, action and romance… and it works. It’s gotten pretty negative reviews and it isn’t for everyone but you (yeah, you!) should give it a try tonight. Another reason it’s so great is because it stars Josh Hutcherson, and who doesn’t love Josh Hutcherson? Not me, that’s for damn sure.
