Another weekend come and gone. Woe is me (and everyone else starting their work week). My new job is infinitely better than my old one but I would still rather be painting the second coat on my dinning room hutch (keep posted for the pictures of that one hopefully next Monday). This here is a little project that I’ve been working on for the past week. Previous to this I had two ugly mismatched baskets on the floor so this is definitely an improvement.
That being said, I can’t say that I’m crazy about it. Something is off. Maybe it’s because the poles are too long and a little gaudy, maybe it’s because the Lights and Darks signs look a little out of place, definitely because the baskets hang WAY too vertical so they only hold about two pieces of laundry… but I’m just not completey happy with it. Either way, it is an improvement over what was and I still wanted to show you what I’ve been up to. Keep posted for an update on this post because I’m going to tinker with this and make some adjustments.
“Why don’t you just buy matching laundry bins?” you may ask. Well, my husband asked that too and the only answer I could come up with is that that would be just too easy. In all honesty, I might end up doing that (now that I have eight holes in my wall… ugh) but I’m going to mess around with this first and see if it can be salvaged.
The good thing is that it was relatively cheap:
- Two baskets at $11.99 each with 40% off coupons = $14.39 total
- One can of white spray paint at $10.99 with 40% off coupon (gotta love Michaels and those coupons) = $6.59
- Two curtain rods at $8 each = $16
- Four S hooks at $1.29 each = $5.16
- One package of two canvases from the dollar store for the signs = $1.25
Total = $43.39
Not great but not bad either. It would really be a shame to scrap everything and just buy baskets at this point but we’ll see what happens.
Here’s how I did the signs. “Why not print it?” you may ask. Because I’m apparently determined to do EVERYTHING the hard way. And my printer is on the fritz. And I’m ridiculous.
