Getting Back into the Swing of Things

Getting Back into the Swing of Things

Hello again, everyone! I know that it’s been a very long time since I was posting regularly but I’m ready to jump back into it so I hope you are too.

When I wrote the last post, I was still dealing with the loss of our precious puppy, Cana. Since then, my husband and I continued to deal with the loss together and decided that although we would never truly get over losing Cana and that she would always have a very special place in our hearts as our first pet, we wanted to open our home to another dog in need.

We weren’t in a rush to get another dog, we just went out and looked at some local shelters a couple times and then we saw Bowie at the Toronto Humane Society. She was such a happy girl; we knew she was the one for us. We haven’t had her for very long but we are already in love with her. I have a couple DIY projects lined up for all the other dog parents out there, so stayed tuned for that.

Before I wrap up, I just wanted to say that all the support I received from you guys as Brandon and I went through the hardest time in our lives was so very much appreciated. Cana was only with us for a short time but everyone showed so much support for her and we loved her so much, I have to believe that she knew that. Rest in peace, sweet girl.

  1. I’m so glad you and your husband decided to adopt another pet. I was hoping you guys would. You two are excellent parents. 🙂

  2. WOO HOO!! What a beauty! Look at those eyes!!

You can never replace a pet but, after a while, you can open up your heart again to a new one!

Give all my hugs to Bowie : ) : )

  3. I was just thinking about you Mel. I may have said this before but Cana was a very lucky little girl to have you and Brandon in her life even though it was for such a short time. You guys did everything you could to save her. It’s been over a year since we lost Lacey and I still think about her every day. My husband and I are just getting to the point of thinking about getting another dog. Bowie is absolutely gorgeous! Those eyes are incredible!

    1. Thanks, Kim. When Cana first passed away I thought I’d never feel “normal” again and it’s not about getting over it but learning to live with it. I didn’t think we’d get another dog for a while but we just knew that we wanted a pet in our family and we have the time and means to give a pet a home. And Bowie is so sweet and good. She does have crazy eyes 🙂 that’s where her name comes from, because David Bowie has different coloured eyes (and he’s awesome in general). Anyways, we’ll always always love Cana and now we can love Bowie too.
